This is us. An everyday family from the West Midlands in the UK trying to get by and raise two wonderful, if not challenging (for very different reasons), children. We are 4 in total, Ben, Laura, Isabelle and now Joshua the Apnea Kid and we have support from the extended family close by which is a God send most of the time! We’re an extremely close family and we don’t like to palm our kids off on anyone. We always wanted a large family but with recent changes I guess we’ll stick with what we have and be grateful. Here’s a little about each person written by each person (except for Joshua… That would be something)
I grew up and spent most of my life just north of Birmingham, UK with a short spell living in Sweden with Laura and Isabelle aged 1 at the time. I work in digital services for a great company, a Swedish manufacturing organisation called Seco Tools (I hope you like the site, I’m partly responsible for it) and travel all over the world as part of my role. I love work and the challenges it brings and love the people I work with. I’ve always had lots of hobbies outside of work, some have stuck, others not so much. I’ve been playing the guitar on and off for almost 25 years and have more recently developed an interest in photography and now blogging. Having a family was always important to me so I love being at home and traveling with them. Laura and I are high school sweethearts and have been married since 2006. She’s the rock, I’m the emotional wreck.
Hi I’m Laura. I’m a special school nurse and have always lived north of Birmingham apart from our few years in Sweden. I have to confess I don’t like the idea of putting ourselves out on the internet like this, but if something good comes of it for someone it’s worth a shot. I always wanted 2 or 3 children and am blessed with the 2 that we have.
Hi I am Isabelle and want to come home from the hospital. I am a ballerina, tap dancer, modern dancer and a theater craft dancer.
Joshua is The Apnea Kid. Born early, and almost constantly having apneas or seizures that result in extreme oxygen de-saturations, he’s the reason for this site. You can get some of his backstory here on our blog. In-between episodes he’s a seemingly healthy boy. He loves cuddles and those wrist rattle things and hates loud noises and his ventilator mask (especially the small one). He’s had a rough start and is a constant source of worry, but he’s ours and we love him.
